Norman Rudolph Morbeck

Norman Rudolph Morbeck went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2021, at the age of 83. Proud and loving father to two children: Beth (John) Bernhoft, and Dean Morbeck. Happy and proud grandfather to Andy (Michelle), Bradley James, Josh, Justin, Jacob, and Lauren, and great-grandfather to Charles, Noah, Lilah, and Abigail. Further survived by his brothers Ralph and Ronnie and his sisters Carol (Chuck) and Lois (Ronnie). He was preceded in his death by his parents Erving and Freida Morbeck and sister-in-law Lorre (Ralph).

Born on the 25th of January, 1938, and raised in Bay View, Wisconsin, Norman was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. He attended primary school at St. Lucas through the 8th grade, then completed high school at Boys Tech (class of 1956). He was in the National Guard from 1957 to 1963. He served actively from October 1961 to August 1962 during the Berlin Crisis and was stationed in Washington State. Norman started work in earnest at a local A&P grocery store, a beginning of a 38-year career in the grocery business, working his way to manager at several stores around Milwaukee, with his final stop at Sentry in Wauwatosa.

Norman enjoyed activities of all kinds – with music at the top of the list. You would rarely find Norman and music separated – music of all kinds – but he had a particular fondness for bluegrass. He made several trips to bluegrass landmarks in Kentucky and Missouri. For most of his life he was an avid fisherman, either on Army Lake, where he had a permanent campsite for over 30 years, or around the state and in Minnesota and the UP with his grandkids. He loved to dance – spending several years on he square dancing circuit. All in all – he loved to socialize, and talk! He spent many evenings touring the restaurants of NW Milwaukee with his social singles group, where he had many close friends, none more so than Kathi Zwicki.

Norman had a strong faith and put his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. For 31 years he worshipped and attended Bible class regularly and was a Deacon and the chairman of the elders board at Abiding Word Lutheran Church In Milwaukee. He volunteered his time often to drive for Interfaith Caregivers of Washington County.
