Carol J. Missling, 79, of Longwood, passed away 6 days after Doug on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Meriter Hospital of Madison with her family by her side.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Rev. Elizabeth Biers will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Interment will be held at a later date.
Carol was born May 29, 1940, the daughter of Adolph and Florine (Abel) Wendt in Greenwood. She received a degree from UW Eau Claire in education. On October 2, 1965, Carol married the love of her life, Doug Missling.
She taught for 30 years in Marshfield, Rice Lake and retired from Owen-Withee Elementary. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, church council, and Longwood Homemakers. She also served as a 4-H Leader, sang with Clark County Choraliers, taught Sunday School, and played piano, organ and tone chimes for church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, stamping/card-making, crafting, baking, and gardening both flowers and vegetables.
Carol is survived by her three daughters: Debbie (Rod) Englebretson of Owen, Michelle Carpenter of Abbotsford, and Susanne Lilly of Port Washington, WI; six grandchildren: Devon Englebretson of Hortonville, Derek Englebretson of Marshfield, Elli Carpenter of Abbotsford, Hunter Carpenter of Abbotford, Mason Carpenter of Abbotsford, and Conner Lilly of Port Washington; and two great-grandchildren: Archer Englebretson of Marshfield and Caleb Englebretson of Hortonville. She is further survived by her brother: Dennis (Colleen) Wendt of Owen, and her sister: Gerri Wathke of Eau Claire, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doug and a brother-in-law, Roger Wathke.
