Lynda Ann Foss Scott Culley, 77 passed away surrounded by her family in St. Petersburg, FL, after suffering a stroke.
Lynda was born in Duluth, MN, on January 2, 1942, to Helen and Gunnard Foss.
After graduating from Duluth East HS, she attended UMD. She married Rick Scott and with their daughter Cindy, began an adventurous life in Bethel, AK, where son Erik was born. Lynda served as the Bethel City Clerk and fished salmon commercially on the Kuskokwim River. The young family moved to Superior, WI, where they enjoyed canoeing, boating on Lake Superior, and skiing at Lutsen. In 1976, Lynda earned a BS in Accounting at UW-Superior. She became a CPA and worked for Nystrom Accounting and Minnesota Power, retiring in 2000.
In 1984, Lynda married Jack Culley. They enjoyed 28 years together playing tennis, sailing, golfing, travelling, and tending to civic duties. Lynda served on the Superior Catholic Charities Board, the Miller Dwan Foundation and was active in political campaigning. Lynda was a life-long Contract Bridge enthusiast and became a Life Master in 2016.
Lynda’s most cherished times were spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed volunteering in the care of babies born prematurely and with substance addictions at All Children’s Hospital (St. Petersburg) and initiated a fund for families needing assistance with bringing their children home.
Lynda is survived by children Cindy McDonnell (Brad), Wayzata, MN and Erik Scott (Paula), Maple Grove, MN; granddaughters Helen and Hanna McDonnell, Emily and Marit Scott; sister Peggy Dollinger (Rex) and brother Jack Foss (Madeline); and many wonderful relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jack Culley.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Lynda on June 27, 5:30 – 7:30 pm (program at 6:00) at the Kitchi Gammi Club in Duluth. A Celebration of her life was held in St. Petersburg on April 24th.
