Leonard J. Iwanski, age 88, of Stevens Point, WI passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at his residence. Leonard was born in the Town of Stockton, Portage County on May 22, 1930, the son of the late Louis and Anna (Sopa) Iwanski. On May 14, 1955, Leonard married Lucy Yetka at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2008. Leonard farmed in the Town of Stockton for many years. He is a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Amherst. During his 53 years of marriage to Lucy, they were blessed to have a happy and healthy life on the Iwanski homestead farm in Amherst. Later the couple retired to Stevens Point. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Leonard is survived by his children: Daniel Iwanski, Columbus, OH; Linda (Rod) Lila, Plover, WI; Cheryl (Jon) Janowski, Milwaukee, WI and Allen (Jennifer) Iwanski, Sheboygan, WI; 9 grandchildren: Dawn (Ben) Lutter; Tara, Nikki & Kendra Lila; Allyson, Keira & Aaron Janowski; Jacob & Nathan Iwanski; Brothers: Anthony (Ann) Iwanski, Milwaukee, WI & Ernest (Marlene) Iwanksi, New Berlin, WI; Sisters: Esther Megal, Plover, WI & Betty (Allen) Trzinski, Plover, WI. and 2 sister in laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucy, 3 brothers and a sister. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, August 14 at 11 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Daniel Hackel, presiding. Military Graveside Services will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home, Amherst continuing on Tuesday morning from 10 AM until the time of mass at the church. Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
