Patricia Anne Hay Murley was born February 28, 1938 in Three Rivers, Michigan to Raymond Earl Hay and Helen Elizabeth Breyfogle Hay. She graduated with high honors in 1956 from Kalamazoo Central High School, Kalamazoo, Michigan. She graduated in 1960 from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education with a major in French and minors in English and mathematics. She taught French and algebra in Grand Haven, Michigan High School from 1960 to 1964. She married John Alden Murley of Boscobel, Wisconsin on June 13, 1964 at the Methodist Church of the Dunes in Grand Haven, Michigan. She then taught junior high mathematics at Fremont High School in Fremont, Michigan from 1964 to 1965 and taught French at Boscobel High School, 1970-71. She served as an organist for the following churches: Lane Boulevard Evangelical United Brethren Church, Kalamazoo from 1956 to 1960; Methodist Church of the Dunes in Grand Haven, Michigan from 1961 to 1964; Hazelcrest United Methodist Church, Hazelcrest, Illinois, 1967; St. John’s Lutheran Church, Boscobel, 1971 to 2012. She taught piano from 1973 to 2012 and taught organ when there were students who were interested. She was a long-time member of the GFWC Boscobel Woman’s Club, serving four terms as secretary and two term as president; past president three times of the Women of St. John’s; past president of the Boscobel Music Boosters; former member and long-time secretary of the Boscobel Library Board; one of the organizers along with her husband John, of the Boscobel Pre-School Center, later called Sunshine Alley Pre-School, now closed. St. John’s Lutheran Church , 208 Mary St. Boscobel, WI, with Pastor Charles Koester officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Boscobel Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home, 104 Fremont St. Boscobel, WI and one hour prior to service time at the church.
